Here are 5 ways to help make reading a fun part of your everyday routine.
- Point out when your child has mispronounced a word.
- Practice reading sight words without having to sound them out.
- When at the library, look for “Level 1” and “Beginning Reading” books.
- Ask your child to read familiar words, such as road signs and packages at the grocery store.
- Ask your child comprehension questions, while reading and when you’re finished.
- What do you think will happen next?
- What would you do or how would you feel?
- Did you like this book?
